You will learn the fundamentals of slab building and SPEND THE FIRST HALF OF THE DAY MAKING YOUR water bowl. You will THEN prepare your slabs for your food bowl, in order that they will be leather hard and ready to use during THE SECOND HALF OF THE DAY.
AFTER LUNCH, YOU WILL construct your food bowl, WHERE WE WILL BUILD ON THE SKILLS YOU LEARNT IN THE MORNING. ONCE BUILT, IT’S TIME TO LET YOUR CREATIVITY RUN FREE TO MAKE YOUR SET UNIQUELY YOURS AND COMPLIMENT YOUR LIVING SPACE, WITH ETCHING, CARVING, PAINTING OR ANY OTHER IDEAS YOU HAVE, THAT ARE ATTAINABLE ON THE DAY. Should you choose to paint your SET OF bowls with underglazes, I HAVE A COMPREHENSIVE ARRAY OF COLOURS FOR YOU TO WORK WITH.
AT THE END OF THE WORKSHOP, YOU WILL LEAVE YOUR bowls WITH ME TO PROCESS - I WILL DRY THEM, BISQUE FIRE, SAND, WAX, GLAZE AND GLAZE FIRE THEM. IN CONJUNCTION WITH any SURFACE DECORATION DESIGNS YOU HAVE, You will be able to choose between a matt white, ivory gloss and/or a transparent glaze, IN WHICH I WILL finish your PIECES. You will be notified via email when YOUR Set is READY for pre-christmas COLLECTion.
So often, we lavish beauty on objects destined for cupboards and drawers, hidden from daily sight. Yet the bowls that live at our feet - ever present, ever used, serving our most faithful companions - are left plain, utilitarian, overlooked. Why not invite art into that space too? Why not give them vessels that are as beautiful as they are useful - Art in constant service.
Workshops are only run 2 times a year and class sizes are kept small. For early access to upcoming class dates, please join the mailing list below.
